Air Fryer

I feel like I've been hearing about air-fryer food for a couple of months now. I've also been seeing it used on several paleo websites and even on GNC! Given my love for chicken wings and after doing some research on both quality and price I ended up buying the below air fryer from Costco:

Gourmia Digital Air Fryer 5 Qt./4.7L Capacity

The first thing I did when I got home was make chicken wings. I threw about 13 frozen chicken wings into the air fryer, used their preset "chicken" setting (400 degrees for 20 minutes) and below is how they came out:

The skin was really crispy and after tossing them in some Frank's Red Hot Sauce they were good to go. Hard to believe no oil was used to make these so crispy and delicious!

For dinner that same night we decided to try a whole chicken in the air fryer. The below chicken was 5.5 pounds and I rubbed with with the below seasoning I found at Wegmans. It took about an hour took cook (our thermometer was being wonky) but the skin was crunchy and the chicken was moist!

My conclusions are:
(1) Purchasing an air fryer was totally worth it. We love chicken wings and having a healthy way to enjoy them now which is really nice. Although we haven't tried any vegetables in the air fryer yet (brussels sprouts are next on our list) we heard those are really good too!
(2) If you're trying to choose between an air fryer and an Instapot I would actually recommend the Instapot as a first purchase as you can do so much more with it. However, I would still recommend the air fryer as a fun kitchen tool.
