Costco
We're not sure why we waited so long, but, we finally got a Costco membership. Given how much meat we eat on Whole30 and given how many good reviews we've heard from people about Costco's meat it was just time. For some reason we purchased a lot of pork this trip. We went in with no real game plan and pork is so cheap that is just how it worked out. Our next trip we plan on purchasing lots of ground turkey, steak, and chicken thighs.
I eat pork belly every morning for breakfast. Normally I spend $6.99 for 12 ounces of pork belly from Trader Joe's and it lasts me for one week. Today I bought 88 ounces (5.5 pounds) of pork belly from Costco for $21.00 and I was able to get 6 weeks worth of breakfast out of it. Such a great deal!
One of my favorite weekend meals on Whole30 is chicken wings. My husband found a great way to cook them in the oven so that they come out super crispy, as if they were fried! I like mine with Frank's Red Hot Sauce but my husband makes his own Whole30 Lemon Pepper sauce.
Normally we buy 3 pounds of chicken wings from Wegmans for $10.00. At Costco we bought 8 pounds of chicken wings from Costco for $16.00.
My husband was in the mood for pork chops this weekend. He got just over 5 pounds for $11.45 and ended up getting three meals out of this one package.
Lastly, my husband loves having shredded pork with pineapple salsa for dinner during the week. Normally he buys 8 pounds of bone-in pork shoulder for $10.00 at Wegmans. At Costco, we got 12 pounds of pork shoulder for $25.00 AND it is de-boned. Not having the bone in makes this purchase so worth it!
