Freedom
Only two days left of round #3 of Whole30! There have been two themes that my husband and I have been talking about lately: (1) feeling excited about being "free" soon, and (2) beginning to see in the mirror all of our hard work.
Starting our first round of Whole30 in January and being on the verge of completing a third round has been pretty easy socially. During the winter in New England it isn't hard to become a Whole30-hermit since everyone in general is hunkered down in their homes/not getting out and about as often. However, the weather is getting warmer, there are some holidays coming up (Cinco de Mayo, Memorial Day, etc), and there is an overall desire to just get out of the house more! Rich and I starting to get "cabin fever" and say on a daily basis "I can't wait to get to a weight when we can just go grab a drink at a bar/grab a bite to eat with friends/etc. and not have it be detrimental to my weight." Basically, we're itching to get out of the house and just be normal social people again! We both have 15 pounds or so to go in terms of feeling like we're (1) at a goal weight and (2) at a weight where we have 5 pounds wiggle-room to do things like go out to eat/grab drinks with friends/etc. Disappearing from our social circle for the past 4 months has been easy to do because of the nature of New England winters and necessary in order to accomplish our goals, but, we're itching to get out of the house and rejoin society again!
Speaking of the warmer weather...
This past week I went running outside and put a race shirt on that I haven't worn in some time. I couldn't believe that it wasn't skin tight! It prompted me to look up a picture of what the shirt looked like on me when I wore it during the 5k I got it for. My mind was blown. Slow and steady progress is awesome but I find it very easy to forget how far I have come! Seeing this "before and after" photo in the same shirt really gives me the motivation I need to stick to Whole30 even once this round is over in two days! So, if you'll excuse me, I have some food prep to do...
