Day #1
Hello all! I have already completed one round of Whole30 from January 2, 2018 through February 2, 2018. I had such great success with it that I decided to complete another round of it! A brief summary of my success includes losing 13.8 pounds, my blood pressure decreasing from 135/89 to 112/82, my sleep dramatically improved (fell asleep quickly and stayed asleep throughout the night), and I was spending less money every month. Also, I had taken a break from running after my half marathon on November 2017 but resumed running in the gym during this 30-day period as well.
During round 1 I would post weekly updates on Facebook on how things were going and I got such good feedback that I decided to launch this blog as a way to (1) hold myself accountable, and (2) hopefully inspire others!
If you are contemplating doing Whole30, are in the middle of it, or are doing another round of it, I highly recommend owning 'It Starts With Food' by Dallas Hartwig & Melissa Hartwig. Being the type of person I am I don't want to just do something "because it works"... I want to know WHY it works. This book gets into the nitty-gritty of what is going on in your body when you're putting "bad" foods into your body on a chemical and hormonal level and how most of that damage is reversible using the Whole30 lifestyle. I found this book incredibly inspirational because it gave me the knowledge that I can literally change how my cells are working and improve my health overall through living this healthy lifestyle.
So, today is the first day of my second round of Whole30! Let's check in on some key areas that I found affected me throughout my first round...
1. BODY - even though it has only been a couple of weeks since the last day of my first round of Whole30 my stomach feels bloated, I feel full despite having just woken up, and I just feel "gross" overall. I am also 2.5 pounds heavier than my weight on the last day of round one.
2. MIND - I feel excited to do another round of Whole30. I miss feeling healthy and "cleared out" of all the garbage that I was putting in to my body. Also, there are no major events between day 1 and day 30 so I know I won't face many obstacles in terms of navigating a big party or social engagement.
3. MISC - My sleep has been off, I feel sluggish, and I've been spending more money since we've been going out to eat the past couple of weekends. Definitely looking forward to all of those things getting back on track.
